Owner, Music Director, and seasoned trumpet player, Steve Moreland, has spent years assembling a powerhouse ensemble of young talent from across the country to add brilliant energy to the jazz scene in Austin, TX. Combined with a meticulously crafted music library covering everything from Frank Sinatra to Harry Connick, Jr; Ella Fitzgerald to Michael Bublé, the Vintage 15 soars over the competition with a swagger unlike any other big band out there.
Since its first rehearsal, The Vintage 15 has traveled the globe adding their sound to weddings, corporate events, birthday and anniversary parties, fundraiser galas, and more. They are heralded as the 'most working big band' in the country and featured in a historical documentary titled "A Marvelous Era." The Vintage 15 has received numerous awards from The Austin Chronicle, The Knot, Wedding Wire, GigMasters and many more. Fresh off his debut album Wonderful You Came By, Christian Wiggs joined The Vintage 15 in late 2015 and has quickly become Austin's newest rising star. With a new album in the works and set to release in early 2017, Christian as opened several major acts such as Tony DeSare and the Houston Symphony Orchestra.
University of Texas law professor and Yale graduate, Lucy Wood joined the group in 2015 and brings an elegant and sultry sound to The Vintage 15. Lucy's stage experience ranges from performances at the White House for President Bill Clinton to performances during SXSW. One show is all it takes to become a fan!
Classically-trained performer and conductor, Steve Moreland has been the visionary behind bringing to life an era gone by making it sound like it's fresh as today. Having been featured in a big band documentary titled A Marvelous Era, Steve is touted as being on the short list for today's "modern day big band leader."
